Lynne Dixon Announces Campaign for Re-Election
Hamburg, NY – Today, Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon (I-Hamburg) announced she will seek re-election to the Erie County Legislature in the newly formed 9th District, which encompasses Hamburg, Lackawanna, and a portion of South Buffalo.
“Over the past two years, I have fought as an independent voice to reform government and protect Erie County taxpayers. We have made major strides to return government back to the people and I will continue to fight the unsustainable status quo of the past as we all look toward the future,” Legislator Dixon said.
“I look forward to meeting the residents and taxpayers of the newly formed district and introducing myself to those that I haven’t been lucky enough to represent in my first term,” she continued. “My family’s roots are in South Buffalo, and I know that all residents throughout Erie County expect accountability, transparency, and common sense solutions. I feel I have delivered in my first term, and I hope to be able to continue to do so in the future.”
Lynne spent 22 years as a journalist, including 12 years as an award-winning reporter at Channel 2 news, covering everything from breaking news to developing in-depth reports that held elected officials accountable to the taxpayer. She has often been recognized for her work in journalism, including the inaugural Tim Russert Award for interview skills, preparedness, knowledge, credibility, teamwork and generosity of spirit at Channel 2. In 2009, Lynne decided to take the taxpayer’s fight to the next level by winning election to the Erie County Legislature.
As a first-term legislator, Lynne’s accomplishments include:
· Downsizing of the Erie County Legislature from 15 seats to 11;
· Closure of district offices and implementation of a district outreach program that saved millions in taxpayer funds;
· Retirement of $200 million in debt and building an $80M surplus fund balance;
· Implementation of the Silver Alert, protecting our vulnerable seniors;
· Establishment of a property tax stabilization fund.
Lynne is a lifelong resident of Erie County and currently resides in the Village of Hamburg with her husband, Tim Quinlivan, and their four children: Jack, Erin, Owen and Caroline.
